Frequently asked questions
What size wire should I use in my EX series baler?
For most applications a 13 ga., 13 ft. wire can be used. Materials with more memory such as PET, HDPE, & Foam you may need a larger gauge.
What gauge wire should I get for replacement on my 2RAM baler?
The gauge of wire is designated by the last digit on your wire tier model number. Example: A 342 will use 12 ga. wire, whereas a 343 would use 13 ga. wire.
What type of wire should I use on my 2RAM baler?
Your Excel balers requires an Ultra High Tension strength type wire; the common black annealed wire is not recommended.
Does my baler need a tank heater?
If the ambient temperature will drop to 40 degrees or less for an extended period of time, you should order a tank heater with the baler.
How often should I change my filters?
Hydraulic and Air Breather filters should be changed every 3 months or 500 hours.
Where can I get hydraulic and air breather filters for my baler?
While some aftermarket filters may physically fit on your baler, Excel OEM filters use a specific filtration media which keeps oil particulate at or below the requirements demanded by piston pumps, poppet valves and other advanced hydraulic components that your hydraulics system may use.
What type of oil should I use on my baler?
Excel Balers with Reservoirs mounted on the machine should use an Multi viscosity 32 weight hydraulic oil. Excel Balers with separate reservoirs should use a multiviscosity 46 weight oil.
Why do I need a conveyor for my baler?
A conveyor is not just a means of getting the material into the balers' hopper. While balers can be fed directly by hand or with a piece of equipment, a conveyor acts as a metering device providing a consistent feed and uniform bale density while reducing shear jams.
